Terms of UseGoogle has an application program interface (the "API") for the Google Translate Service (the "Service") that permits you to submit translation requests and receive results as further described below. By using the API, you ("You") accept and agree to be bound by the Google Universal Terms of Service (the "Universal Terms") as well as the following additional terms and conditions ("Additional Terms")(together the "Terms"). Unless otherwise defined in these Additional Terms, capitalized words shall have the meaning set forth in the Universal Terms. For clarity, all terms and conditions applicable to the "Software" in the Universal Terms shall apply to the "API" as defined herein. If You are accepting on behalf of your employer or another entity, you represent and warrant that you have full legal authority to bind your employer or such entity to these Terms. If you don't have the legal authority to bind, You must ensure that an authorized person from your entity clicks to accept these Terms when you access the API.
1.1 Description of Service. The API consists of a web service that allows You to create an application (the "Application") that can provide translation requests to and display results from the Google Translate service (the "Service"), subject to the limitations and conditions described below. The results consist of a translation of your request and a list of hypothesis translations (together, the "Translation") associated with a weighted score (collectively, the "Results"). The API is limited to allowing You to initiate requests, receive Results through the Service, and display the Results in your Application and does not provide You with the ability to access other Google Services or data, or a license to use the Results except as set forth herein. 1.2 Accessing the API. In order to obtain the API, you must provide a description of your research project to Google, and receive approval to proceed. Upon receiving such approval from Google, you must also create a Google Account. By accepting these Terms, you agree to use the API to access the Service in conformance with all applicable API documentation provided to you by Google. 1.3 Modifications. Google reserves the right to release subsequent versions of the API and to require You to obtain and use the most recent version. Google may modify these Additional Terms at any time with or without notice, and You can review the most current version of the Additional Terms online at any time at http://code.google.com/apis/translate/terms.html, or such future URL as Google may designate. If a modification is unacceptable to You, You may terminate this license by ceasing to use the API to access the Service. If You continue to use the API, You will be deemed to have accepted the modifications. 2.1 Attribution. You agree to provide attribution to Google as the owner and provider of the API and Service in any publication which results from or relates to your use of the API and/or Service. 3.1 You may use the API and may use and reproduce the Results for academic research purposes only and in accordance with the Terms and any applicable guidelines provided to you by Google. You may not use the API or the Results for, as the basis of, or in connection with any commercial use, application, or development. You may not use, distribute or otherwise make available your Application for any commercial purpose. 3.2 Unless otherwise agreed to by Google, You understand and agree that you may submit no more than 1000 requests per day through the API. 4.1 By submitting translation requests on or through the API, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and otherwise use, with or without attribution such translation requests on Google services, including without limitation any rights needed to host, cache, route, transmit, store, copy, modify, distribute, perform, display, reformat, excerpt, analyze, and create algorithms from and derivative works of the translation requests. 4.2 As a condition of your use of the API, You agree that at no time hereafter shall You directly or indirectly dispute or contest Google's right, title, and interest in the API, Service, and Results, including but not limited to the Intellectual Property Rights contained therein. 5.1 Entire Agreement. The Terms constitute the entire agreement between You and Google and govern your use of the API, Service, and Results, superseding any prior agreements between You and Google regarding this subject matter. 5.2 The section headings in the Additional Terms are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect. |
