Abstract

Activity recognition runs on over 1 billion Android devices today. Engineers and researchers at Google face many unique challenges when developing, launching, and iterating on activity recognition algorithms when compared to academia. This talk covers what Activity Recognition at Google is, discusses the value of applying software engineering techniques and sharing infrastructure, and explores two of these challenges: scale and battery life.
