The Google Research Awards for Latin America are one-year awards structured as unrestricted gifts to support the work of world-class permanent faculty members and their students who are pursuing cutting-edge research in specific fields related to Computer Science at top universities in Latin America. For the 2018 edition the total amount of funding will be US$500,000 to be distributed among the selected researchers. Recipients are selected through a comprehensive internal review process and notified of their awards within 6-8 weeks after the deadline (dates to be announced). Each proposal should involve a single faculty and a single student, either at PhD or MSc level. Grants will be paid in the form of monthly gifts to both the faculty and the student as follows: for approved projects at PhD level, the student will receive US$1,200 monthly and the faculty will receive US$750 monthly. For approved projects at M.Sc. level, the student will receive US$750 monthly and the faculty will receive US$675 monthly. The grants will be awarded for a period of one year with the possibility of annual renewal up to a limit of two years in total for master students and three years for PhD students.
