Martin studied physics in Muenster, Germany, and graduated with a PhD in theoretical
and computational physics at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in
Goettingen, Germany. He moved to the US to work at Stanford University as
Postdoctoral Researcher in computational biophysics for two years, before joining
NASA/SETI in Mountain View to develop signal processing algorithms for NASA's Kepler
Mission. During those years, Martin also developed and brought to market a video
analysis software (AnTracks) that is used in behavioral ecology. In 2012, he then
joined Google to work on Computer Vision in StreetView, and since 2015 is working on
advancing the Life Sciences with Machine Learning.
